What your gift pays for
We are a small organization and the money goes to a small number of things. Roughly, a donation buys:
Writing and illustration
New picture books, comics and coloring pages — written by child safety specialists and drawn by illustrators who are paid properly for their work.
Animation and video
Animated cartoons for the youngest children, and filmed talks for the adults around them. Video is our most expensive format and our most watched.
Getting it into schools
Printed classroom packs, teacher guides, and the outreach that puts them in front of the schools and youth groups that need them most.
Keeping it free and online
Hosting, translation, accessibility work, and expert review — so the site stays open, correct and usable by everyone, with no paywall and no advertising.
Other ways to give
- Give monthly. A regular gift, however small, is worth more to us than the same amount once, because it lets us commission work months ahead.
- Ask your employer to match it. Many companies double an employee’s charitable gift. It takes one form and it is the cheapest way to double your donation.
- Give in memory or in honour of someone. Tell us the name and we will acknowledge it.
- Fundraise for us. Birthdays, runs, school events — get in touch and we will send you materials.
- Give your time. We need illustrators, translators, reviewers and people who know child protection. Tell us what you do.
Tax deductibility
Danger Aware is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and we send a receipt for every gift. Our EIN is 87-1398369.
Where the money goes
We do not spend donations on advertising, and there is none on this site. We do not sell or share supporter details with anyone. If you want to know what a specific gift funded, ask us — we will tell you.
